In the simplest terms, a bollard is a metallic body placed on the ground to block vehicles. This blockage could be against anything. You must have seen safety bollards in front of gas or electricity meters. These bollards help in securing the property against vehicular collision or any other damage. These bollards are fixed in the ground with the help of concrete. They also used thick steel for making safety bollards.

3. Security Bollards

They are heavy duty and heavy weight bollards used to reduce the impact of collision with the vehicle. They are rated as high impact bollards. They are made in a way to withstand the impact of collision with fast moving vehicles or trucks with heavy loads. They are made of sturdy materials like metal and steel with concrete inside to make it more strong and able to withstand the collision.

Police stations, fire departments, courthouses and ambulance garages etc all of them make use of bollards to protect their property and manage traffic flow outside and around their buildings and offices. Government buildings are also at a risk of having terrorist attacks. That is why they install bollards outside and around the buildings to protect it against any terrorist activity. The bollards also help to provide safety for visitors who visit government buildings. They are also used to prohibit unauthorised vehicle access or entry inside the building. Government buildings mostly prefer safety or security bollards because they are medium or high impact rated regarding crashes and collisions.

2. Shopping Malls

All of you must have been to a shopping mall many times in your lives. Have you noticed where the bollards are placed inside or outside the shopping malls? Probably you have not noticed but the bollards are everywhere. They are along the cart stand, blocking the base of escalators and at building corners. You will find them in many places in and outside shopping malls.

3. Toll Booths

Toll booths are considered to be high-risk areas when it comes to vehicle collisions. That is why bollards are placed to separate the lanes and for preventing the risk of vehicle collision. Drivers in cars on toll booths are more focused on the booth instead of the road. That is why the chance of collision increases.

4. Restaurants

Restaurants have a mix of decorative and safety bollards. They use decorative bollards in areas where they want to direct the pedestrian traffic. While they use safety bollards at places where they want to guide vehicular traffic for example at the drive through. Bollards are very useful for restaurants as they prevent the congestion of traffic around the place by guiding and controlling the traffic in the best possible way and without any hassle.
